Paraguay is an important ally of our country in South America. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated today (18th) that Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Chen Ming-chi, who is visiting Paraguay, accompanied by Paraguayan Deputy Minister of Public Works Emiliano Fernandez, inspected the "Electric Bus Pilot Project" jointly undertaken by Taiwan and Paraguay and experienced its operation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Taiwan and Paraguay will continue to promote smart transportation solutions in the future, upholding the spirit of mutual benefit and shared prosperity, to assist Paraguay in achieving its national goal of green transportation transformation.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chen Ming-chi inquired about the thoughts of fellow passengers during his ride. The public expressed that they have been regularly commuting since the introduction of Taiwan's electric buses and have experienced unprecedented comfort from public transportation, hoping for continued introduction in Paraguay in the future.
Fernandez stated that Taiwan's electric buses have been widely praised by the Paraguayan public since their launch. Features such as smooth operation, comfortable seating, air conditioning systems, and thoughtful accessible spaces have been particularly commended by users. Furthermore, the quiet and zero-emission electric buses have brought a brand new experience to the country's transportation development.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the "Electric Bus Pilot Project" introduced 30 Taiwan-made electric buses under the strong promotion of Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung in 2025. All have been put into operation in March of this year, showing initial success in improving the quality of public transportation in Paraguay's capital, Asunción.
