The 50th Golden Tripod Awards shortlist has been announced. 90-year-old author Huang Chun-ming, who was recently honored with an asteroid named after him by National Central University, has been nominated for the Literary Book Award and the Book Illustration Award for his novel "Mountain Grandpa" and his illustrated essay collection "Taiwan Grass Collection," respectively. The Ministry of Culture stated that a total of 1,483 entries were submitted for this year's Golden Tripod Awards. After preliminary and secondary reviews, 108 works have been shortlisted. The list of winners is expected to be announced in July, with the awards ceremony to be held in late September. Competition for this year's entries is fierce. In the Literary Book Award category, in addition to the heavyweight author Huang Chun-ming, many award-winning works from the Taiwan Literature Golden Award, Taipei International Book Fair Award, and Openbook Award have also been shortlisted, such as Lin Chun-ying's "Burning July," Lian Ming-wei's "Gun Strong Robbery," Han Li-chu's "Naked Mountain," and Ma Shih-fang's "Land of Songs." In the Non-Literary Book Award category, Zhang Hui-ci's "Eldest Daughter Syndrome," which has sparked much discussion, scholar and author Lan Pei-chia's new work "Becoming Second Generation," which Yang Shuang-tzu, author of "Taiwan Wandering Records," publicly thanked for her enlightenment, and "Island of Great Winds," by Xu Ya-ting, Zhang Xin-wen, and Huang Yong-guang, which documents the Lo-Sheng Sanatorium, have all been shortlisted. In the Children and Young Adult Book Award category, Yu Mi-chen's "If You Were Sending a Letter," which recently won the first Golden Picture Book Award, and Ni Kou-Suo-Ke-Lu-Man and Mao Yu's "Donggu Safi: The Mountain Child Diang," which won the Taipei International Book Fair Award, are competing in the same group. In the Book Editing Award, Zhuang Rui-lin, the driving force behind "Taiwan Wandering Records," has been nominated for her book "Traveling in the Treetops." She will compete for the award with Zhuang Shu-ching, editor of "Chasing a Stream," another work from Spring Hill Publishing, and Wu Xiao-le, author and editor of "They Thought No One Was Listening: Taiwan's First Anthology on Induced Abortion." In the Book Illustration Award category, in addition to Huang Chun-ming, Gao Peng-xiang, who won "The Most Beautiful Books in the World" organized by the Leipzig Book Fair Foundation this year, has also been shortlisted for his award-winning book "Taiwan Letterpress Era." He will compete with Zhou Jian-xin, illustrator of "Children from Qing Shui," for his "Grandpa's Days Paper," and Chen Pei-chih, a two-time finalist for the Angoulême International Comics Festival's "Révélation" award, for her work "When I Went to School." In the magazine category, "Taiwan Mountains" magazine, which has been re-published, has been shortlisted for the fourth time this year. "Xunfeng" magazine, a multiple award winner, has once again been nominated for the Magazine Design Award. "Human Fish Poetry Life Magazine," a literary magazine that won an award last year, has also been consecutively nominated. Chu An-min, winner of the Special Contribution Award at the 45th Golden Tripod Awards, has been nominated for the Magazine Editor Award this year. The full shortlist can be found on the official website of the Golden Tripod Awards. (Editor: Xu Jia-yuan) Source Link: https://www.rti.org.tw/news?uid=3&pid=215248
