According to a Kyodo News report, multiple sources revealed on the 17th that Hashimoto Gaku, acting chairman of the Japan-China Economic Association and former Japanese Vice Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare, will visit Beijing in late June. He will attend the China International Supply Chain Promotion Expo (Supply Chain Expo) held in Beijing from the 22nd to the 26th, on behalf of the late chairman Kono Yohei.
Sino-Japanese relations have been in a stalemate for over half a year since Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's "Taiwan contingency" remarks in November 2025. Therefore, Hashimoto Gaku's visit to Beijing to attend the Supply Chain Expo has attracted external attention.
According to the report, the Japan-China Economic Association originally planned for its chairman Kono Yohei to lead a delegation to visit China and attend the Supply Chain Expo. However, Kono Yohei passed away on the 8th. The Japanese side then scaled down the number of participants, with Hashimoto Gaku leading relevant executives on the visit.
The report mentioned that Hashimoto Gaku's father is the late Japanese Prime Minister Ryutaro Hashimoto, who also served as chairman of the Japan-China Economic Association. (Editor: Liu Xianghua)
