Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Chen Ming-chi led a delegation to visit Paraguay to review current cooperation projects and future directions, and met with Paraguay's Minister of Foreign Affairs. Chen Ming-chi stated that the diplomatic relations between Taiwan and Paraguay are about to enter their 70th anniversary, and expressed hope for accelerated cooperation in AI, higher education, and smart transportation in the future. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a press release in the evening stating that Chen Ming-chi led a delegation to visit Paraguay, Taiwan's South American ally, from the 14th to the 19th. During the visit, he held discussions with Paraguay's Minister of Foreign Affairs Ruben Ramirez and Vice Minister Victor Verdun, and inspected the results of various Taiwan-Paraguay cooperation projects. Chen Ming-chi pointed out that the diplomatic relations between Taiwan and Paraguay are about to enter their 70th anniversary. The two countries have cooperated extensively in various fields with outstanding results, and bilateral trade and economy continue to grow. The government also thanks Paraguay for its sincere friendship and firm support for Taiwan on the international stage over the years. This visit, in addition to reviewing the progress of current projects, also aims to jointly plan and coordinate future cooperation directions with Paraguay, accelerating cooperation in areas such as artificial intelligence, higher education, and smart transportation, and combining the strengths of both countries to promote national development. Ramirez stated that the fruitful results of Paraguayan President Santiago Pena's visit to Taiwan in May this year will serve as a foundation for further deepening bilateral cooperation. Furthermore, Paraguay will continue to promote the positive significance of deep Taiwan-Paraguay cooperation for national development to all parties in international forums and in interactions with friendly countries. The areas of cooperation between the two countries are diverse and meet the needs of national development, laying a solid foundation for the next generation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that in addition to exchanging views with Paraguay on future cooperation directions, Chen Ming-chi's visit also included on-site inspections of the planned site for the "Taiwan-Paraguay Sovereign AI Computing Center," the "Electric Bus Pilot Project," the "Medical Information System," "Taiwan-Paraguay University of Science and Technology," and the "Taiwan-Paraguay Smart Technology Park," among other cooperative projects, demonstrating the importance both governments place on deepening cooperation and Taiwan-Paraguay diplomatic relations.
