Actor Li Liqun claimed that searching Taiwanese television channels did not show the World Cup. Chen Binhua, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office (TAO), stated today (17th) that Taiwanese people are welcome to use mainland Chinese networks, apps, etc., to watch the live broadcast of the matches. The Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) stated today that the TAO is commenting even on World Cup broadcasts, which is meddling too much. Actor Li Liqun claimed that searching Taiwanese television channels did not show the World Cup. Chen Binhua stated at a regular press conference of the TAO today that China Central Radio and Television has signed a broadcasting contract with FIFA, obtaining the exclusive all-media rights and media sub-licensing rights for this World Cup in China. He claimed, "We welcome compatriots on the island to use mainland networks, apps, etc., to watch the live broadcast of the matches, or to come to China to watch the games." The MAC responded in writing, stating that regarding this World Cup, domestic media operators have obtained the broadcasting rights in Taiwan and provide diverse broadcasting methods such as television, MOD, and streaming platforms, allowing Taiwanese fans to participate. There is no need to use mainland Chinese networks or app platforms. The MAC concluded by stating that the TAO is commenting even on World Cup broadcasts, which is meddling too much.
