[Politics] Presidential Office Thanks G7 Summit Leaders' Statement Supporting Peace in Taiwan Strait with Concrete Actions

Leaders attending the Group of Seven (G7) summit in France today (17th) issued a leaders' statement, declaring their "opposition to attempts to unilaterally change the status quo in the East China Sea, South China Sea, and Taiwan Strait." In response, Presidential Office Spokesperson Kuo Ya-hui stated that the Presidential Office sincerely thanks the G7 leaders for once again demonstrating their support for peace, stability, and prosperity in the Taiwan Strait with concrete actions. Taiwan will also continue to cooperate with like-minded democratic partners to promote peace, prosperity, and development in the region and the world. The Group of Seven (G7) leaders issued a joint statement emphasizing the importance of a rule-based, free, and open Indo-Pacific region, opposing any attempts to unilaterally change the status quo in the East China Sea, South China Sea, and Taiwan Strait through force or coercion, and believing that disputes must be resolved through dialogue and peaceful means. Presidential Office Spokesperson Kuo Ya-hui stated that peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and the region are the greatest consensus of the international community and are intertwined with the common core interests of the globe. The Presidential Office sincerely thanks the G7 leaders for once again demonstrating their support for peace, stability, and prosperity in the Taiwan Strait with concrete actions. Kuo Ya-hui also emphasized that Taiwan is at the forefront of the democratic defense line and serves as a cornerstone of global supply chain security. As a responsible member of the regional and international community, Taiwan will continue to cooperate with like-minded democratic partners to strengthen its defense capabilities, supply chain resilience, and economic resilience, jointly safeguard shared democratic and free values, and promote peace, prosperity, and development in the region and the world.
