According to statistics from the Ministry of Transportation and Communications' Tourism Administration, the number of Japanese tourists visiting Taiwan last year recovered to nearly 70% of 2019 levels. To continue attracting travelers to Taiwan, the Tourism Administration is planning a reward program for repeat visitors. Foreign travelers who visit Taiwan again can receive travel incentives of up to NT$8,000.
The Tourism Administration stated today (17th) that to attract travelers, it is planning to launch an international repeat visitor incentive program. Eligible travelers can receive up to NT$8,000 in travel incentives, and will continue to promote incentive measures for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism to encourage international travelers to revisit Taiwan for in-depth tours and participate in business activities.
The Tourism Administration pointed out that the NT$8,000 incentive is for all foreign travelers. Repeat visitors will receive NT$5,000 in travel incentives, while their companions will receive NT$3,000.
According to Tourism Administration statistics, in 2025, Japanese tourists visiting Taiwan are expected to reach 1.48 million, an increase of over 12% compared to the previous year, recovering to nearly 70% of pre-pandemic 2019 levels. This indicates that Japan remains one of Taiwan's important source markets.
Chen Yu-hsiu, Director-General of the Tourism Administration, also recently met with Kuniharu Ebina, Chairman of the Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA), and Atsushi Sakai, President of Hankyu Travel International, to solicit more Japanese tourists to visit Taiwan.
The Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA) announced on June 16th the launch of the "Motto! Kaigai e (Go Abroad)" promotional campaign. In conjunction with the reduction of Japanese passport fees effective July 1st, it encourages more Japanese citizens to travel overseas.
The Tourism Administration stated that it hopes to further increase the willingness of Japanese travelers to visit Taiwan through the combined benefits of favorable outbound travel policies in Japan and preferential measures in Taiwan. (Editor: Chung Chin-lung)
