[Finance] Tesla Applies for FSD Driver Supervision System in Taiwan, Promoting Full Self-Driving Capability on the Road
bella@@ 央廣 新聞3h ago
Tesla Taiwan announced today (16th) that this week it submitted an application for the Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised system to the Vehicle Safety Certification Center (VSCC). Tesla will cooperate with the Ministry of Transportation and Communications and the VSCC to initiate the review process for related new technology driving systems, aiming to expedite the launch of FSD in Taiwan.
Tesla Taiwan stated in a press release that the Tesla FSD Supervised system has been launched or received regulatory approval in 12 countries or regions including the United States, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Estonia, Denmark, and Belgium. Japan is currently conducting active road testing in major metropolitan areas such as Tokyo, Yokohama, and Osaka. Tesla is actively promoting the review and future implementation plans for FSD in Taiwan.
Tesla Taiwan pointed out that the Tesla FSD Supervised system is trained using anonymous real-world driving data collected from over 8.5 million Tesla vehicles globally. The driving scenarios covered by this data are equivalent to over 100 years of real-world driving experience. Each new car delivered can fully integrate all accumulated training data in approximately 10 minutes, with the amount of data imported exceeding the driving scenarios any individual driver might encounter in a lifetime.
Tesla Taiwan announced that Tesla is actively promoting the implementation of FSD in various markets worldwide, following the global FSD usage model transition and launch plan. The one-time purchase option for FSD will cease sales in Taiwan after 11:59 PM on June 30th this year. This does not affect the lifetime ownership rights for vehicles already equipped with FSD. All car owners and prospective owners with undelivered vehicles in Taiwan can opt for additional purchases before or on June 30th. For owners who have already selected FSD with HW3.0, they can enjoy free FSD transfer by completing a new car order before or on September 30th.
Tesla Taiwan explained that the currently activated functions of the Tesla Full Self-Driving (Supervised) system require active supervision by the driver and cannot enable the vehicle to drive autonomously. Tesla's driver-assistance technology strictly requires drivers to actively supervise L2 driver-assistance functions, necessitating the driver to remain vigilant at all times and be prepared to intervene. According to current international and Taiwanese traffic regulations, the driver is the responsible party for the vehicle's operation and must be accountable for driving behavior.
