The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority announced on the 16th that Reagan Washington National Airport will be closed from noon Eastern Time on July 4th (midnight Taiwan time on the 5th) due to the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States events held in the capital region, including an aerial military parade. This airport, located in Virginia near downtown Washington, D.C., will also be closed for several hours on July 3rd due to rehearsals for the National Day events. The airport closure will force the cancellation of hundreds of flights. Reagan Washington National Airport is expected to reopen in the early morning of July 5th. United Airlines stated that they have planned and made arrangements for this restriction, so it is not expected to affect passengers. This Washington airport faced temporary flight restrictions last weekend due to other Independence Day celebration events, including the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) held at the White House.
