The Ministry of Foreign Affairs' "Mosaic Taiwan" event for this year commenced on the 16th, personally presided over by Foreign Minister Joseph Wu. He posted on Facebook, saying that the name "Mosaic Taiwan" is very fitting and echoes the spirit of the program. A mosaic is an image pieced together from individual tiles, and understanding Taiwan, or any country or city, is similar. It might be a tour, or it could be at school, in the industry, meeting someone, or having a conversation. When these fragments come together, they form the unique Taiwan in each person's heart.
The "International Young Leaders Program" series of activities began in 2009 as the "Taiwan Study Tour." In 2014, the study program with participants from North America was named "Mosaic Taiwan." Although the name has changed, the core objective remains the same: to strengthen North American young leaders' understanding of and support for Taiwan, and to sow seeds of friendship between the new generation of youth in our country and the US and Canada.
Joseph Wu pointed out that "Mosaic Taiwan" invites young friends from the US and Canada to Taiwan for exchange. Over the years, many foreign youths who understand and care about Taiwan have been cultivated. This year, participants are specially arranged to learn about Taiwan from various aspects, including democratic values, AI, semiconductors, and social resilience.
Joseph Wu told the program participants that Taiwan is a trustworthy partner for the world and a force for good in the international community. Even when facing the pressure and challenges of authoritarian expansion, Taiwan adheres to democratic freedom and human rights values, and continues to cooperate with like-minded countries for a peaceful, prosperous, and more resilient future. Joseph Wu said: "(Original sound) Taiwan is a force for good in the international community, a reliable and responsible member of the international community."
Joseph Wu also encouraged all participants to ask questions, observe, and chat more during their visit to Taiwan. Through repeated interactions and exchanges, the beautiful image of Taiwan will gradually build up in their hearts, becoming three-dimensional and vibrant.
