The Central Weather Administration stated that today (the 16th), the front is gradually moving away from the waters north of Taiwan, and the southwest monsoon is slightly weakening. Rainfall is easing but humidity remains high. Central and southern Taiwan will experience brief showers or localized thunderstorms, with a chance of localized heavy rain. Other areas will also have scattered brief showers. In the afternoon, mountainous areas may have localized brief thunderstorms with a chance of heavier showers. Within thunderstorm areas, please be aware of lightning strikes and strong gusts. Due to continuous rainfall, mountain areas have loose soil and rocks; avoid going to mountainous areas, riverbanks, or watersides unless necessary. Regarding temperature, low temperatures across the island will be around 24 to 26 degrees Celsius at night and in the early morning, with daytime highs ranging from 29 to 31 degrees Celsius.
Island weather: Penghu will be cloudy to overcast with brief showers or thunderstorms, 25 to 28 degrees Celsius; Kinmen will have brief showers, 25 to 28 degrees Celsius; Matsu will have brief showers, 23 to 27 degrees Celsius.
The southwest monsoon is strong, with a chance of average wind speeds of level 6 or gusts of level 8 or higher in localized areas from Taoyuan to Taichung, Taitung, and on Orchid Island, Green Island, and Matsu. Please be cautious when engaging in activities by the sea. Additionally, with the recent spring tide, water levels in low-lying coastal areas will be higher during high tide, making drainage difficult. Please pay attention to rainfall and prevent water accumulation and flooding.
According to the Environmental Protection Administration's air quality forecast, with the front gradually moving away and the influence of the southwest monsoon today, diffusion conditions will be good south of Hsinchu and Miaoli. The northern region will be downwind, slightly favoring pollutant accumulation. The air quality in Hsinchu-Miaoli, Central, Yunlin-Chiayi-Tainan, Kaohsiung-Pingtung, Yilan, Hualien-Taitung air quality zones, and Matsu, Kinmen, and Penghu will be at 'Good' level. The northern air quality zone will be at 'Moderate' level. (Editor: Wang Zhi-xin)
