The Central Weather Administration stated that today (the 15th), the front is still on the sea north of Taiwan, and the southwest monsoon continues to affect the area. Weather across Taiwan will be unstable. Showers or thunderstorms are likely in western Taiwan, Yilan, and outlying islands. Localized brief showers are also possible in Hualien and Taitung. In particular, central and southern Taiwan have a chance of localized heavy rain or short-duration torrential downpours. Northern Taiwan and Yilan may also experience localized heavy rain. Please be aware of potential flooding. Within thunderstorm areas, pay attention to lightning strikes and strong gusts. Due to continuous rainfall, mountain areas have loose soil and rocks; avoid going to mountainous areas, riverbanks, or watersides unless necessary. Regarding temperature, nighttime and early morning lows across Taiwan will be around 24 to 26 degrees Celsius. Daytime highs in western Taiwan and Yilan will be around 27 to 29 degrees, while Hualien and Taitung will reach 29 to 31 degrees. Outlying island weather: Penghu will be cloudy with brief showers or thunderstorms, 25 to 29 degrees. Kinmen will be cloudy to overcast with brief showers or thunderstorms, 26 to 28 degrees. Matsu will be cloudy with brief showers or thunderstorms, 24 to 27 degrees. The southwest monsoon is strong, with a chance of average wind speeds of level 6 or higher, or gusts of level 8 or higher, in localized areas from Taoyuan to Taichung, Taitung, and the islands of Lanyu, Green Island, and Matsu. Please be careful during activities by the sea. Additionally, with the recent spring tide, water levels in low-lying coastal areas will be higher during high tide, making drainage difficult. Please monitor rainfall and guard against flooding. According to the Environmental Protection Administration's air quality forecast, today, affected by the front located on the sea north of Taiwan and the southwest monsoon, diffusion conditions in northern Taiwan will be slightly poorer, and pollutants may accumulate slightly. The air quality in the Zhunan, Central, Yunlin-Chiayi-Tainan, Kaohsiung-Pingtung, Yilan, and Hualien-Taitung air quality areas, as well as Kinmen and Penghu, will be at a "Good" level. The air quality in the northern air quality area and Matsu will be at a "Moderate" level. (Editor: Chung Chin-lung) Source Link: https://www.rti.org.tw/news?uid=3&pid=214518
