[Cross-Strait] Chen Yu-chen Invites Zhang Linghe to Visit Kinmen; MAC: Will Evaluate Cross-Strait Interaction Situation

The Straits Forum was held in Xiamen, Fujian on the 13th. Kuomintang legislator Chen Yu-chen posted on Facebook today (15th) that during the Straits Forum, she invited Zhang Linghe, the male lead of the Chinese drama "Zhu Yu," to visit Kinmen. In response, the Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) stated that the government will evaluate the cross-Strait interaction situation and handle it according to procedures. Chen Yu-chen posted a photo with Zhang Linghe on Facebook today, saying that she sincerely invited Zhang Linghe to Kinmen to personally experience its unique cultural charm and tourist attractions. She also expressed hope that through the celebrity effect, Kinmen's visibility would be further enhanced, allowing more people to recognize and visit Kinmen, jointly driving tourism development and the local economy. During this year's Straits Forum held in Xiamen, Zhang Linghe appeared at the event. He said at the time that the power of culture can always connect the hearts of compatriots on both sides of the Strait, and he looks forward to more cooperation in cross-Strait film and television. He also said, "The distance across the Strait cannot stop the steps of compatriots visiting each other and getting closer," calling on more Taiwanese compatriots to cross the Strait to visit the mainland and strive for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Regarding Chen Yu-chen's invitation to Zhang Linghe, the MAC responded today only that for individual cross-Strait exchange cases, the government will evaluate the cross-Strait interaction situation and handle it according to procedures. This year, the government upgraded its ban on the Straits Forum, prohibiting local governments from participating. Chen Yu-chen criticized this as restricting cross-Strait exchanges and even said, "We can also conduct united front work on them (the CCP)."
